Barcelona are not interested in acquiring the services of 23-year-old Chelsea full-back Reece James despite recent rumours.

According to Fabrizio Romano, Barcelona do not want to sign Reece James despite the ongoing rumours. The 23-year-old is considered a very important part of the Chelsea setup, and they consider him untouchable.

James has been a part of Chelsea since his childhood days. The 23-year-old has come up the ranks at the club and was also subject to a loan move at Wigan Athletic back in the 2018/19 season. After an impressive loan move, the English full-back was promoted to the Chelsea first team.

He has since featured in 147 matches for the Blues. And, he has been involved in 31 goals, scoring 11 and creating another 20. Meanwhile, his market value has risen to €70 million. The England international has had a few injury struggles of late. But, the Blues are confident about him returning to his best. And, consider him an integral part of their project.

James has featured in 24 matches in the ongoing season. He has been on the pitch for just over 1,900 minutes and has contributed to four goals. Meanwhile, Chelsea are trying to build a squad of young talented players. They have spent a fortune on acquiring such players in the past few transfer windows.

They want the England international to be at the centre of their project and had recently extended his contract. The 23-year-old penned down a new contract in the summer of 2022. The new deal runs until the summer of 2028. And, they have no plans of listening to offers for their academy graduate.

Meanwhile, Barcelona have been linked with the England international of late. The Catalan giants who are going through a financial crisis are planning to offload players in order to be able to sign new players. Xavi is keen on bolstering his squad ahead of next season.

But, according to Romano, Barcelona are not involved in any talks over a potential signing of James. The full-back is considered untouchable by the Blues and is expected to continue at the club for a long while. It will be interesting to see if some other club emerges as a candidate to sign him from Chelsea.
