Real Madrid might soon launch the offensive to sign Portuguese attacker Rafael Leao, valued at €100 million by Real Madrid.
According to a report by Spanish outlet Fichajes, Rafael Leao remains the subject of interest from Real Madrid. The reigning La Liga champions are ready to make a move for the Portuguese attacker. And AC Milan will demand €100 million to part ways with him in the summer transfer window.
Rafael Leao has established himself as one of the most elite performers in the world since joining AC Milan from LOSC Lille in August 2019. The 23-year-old experienced teething problems at San Siro before exploding as a talismanic figure for the Rossoneri. And he was the leading light for Milan as they won the Serie A title last season.
The Portuguese attacker has not been at his best this term but has still contributed to 23 goals. Leao has found the back of the net 11 times while providing 12 assists in 40 appearances thus far. And the player’s progress has captured the attention of several high-profile clubs, including Real Madrid.
Real Madrid’s interest in Leao is perplexing, considering Vinicius Junior has the left-wing berth secured. With the Brazilian international not going anywhere, the AC Milan talisman will not be able to play his preferred position. Nonetheless, the reigning La Liga champions remain keen on signing him.
Meanwhile, the Serie A champions want to tie the 23-year-old to a new contract. But if push comes to shove, AC Milan might have to wilt and cash in on the player. That is because Leao’s contract ends in a little over 12 months, giving the impetus to his suitors to launch the offensive this summer.
That is exactly what Real Madrid will plan to do, according to the report. But AC Milan will demand €100 million to part ways with the Portuguese attacker in the summer transfer window. That is a higher amount than /the figures some recent reports quoted.
So it will be interesting to see if Real Madrid will be open to shelling out €100 million to sign a player who will not play in his preferred position at the Santiago Bernabeu. For now, a summer swoop is seemingly on the cards.
