Real Madrid will reportedly consider a summer move for 24-year-old Liverpool defender Trent Alexander-Arnold, whose market value is €65 million.
According to a report by Spanish outlet Fichajes, Trent Alexander-Arnold is the subject of interest from Real Madrid. The reigning La Liga champions are keen on signing a right-back in the summer transfer window. And the 24-year-old Liverpool defender, whose market value is €65 million, has emerged as a target.
Trent Alexander-Arnold has been with Liverpool for nearly two decades and has come a long way in that time. The English international joined the Merseyside club as a six-year-old before rising through the ranks in the youth division. And he made his first-team debut as an 18-year-old in 2016.
Since then, the youngster has come leaps and bounds, establishing himself as one of the best right-backs in the world. But the 24-year-old has endured a sub-par 2022/23 season thus far, with his market value falling to €65 million. But Alexander-Arnold’s struggles for Liverpool have not impacted his suitors, with Real Madrid interested in him.
Real Madrid will need to delve into the market for a long-term right-back solution. That is because Dani Carvajal has regressed considerably in the last few years. And considering the Spaniard is on the wrong side of 30, it behoves Real Madrid to sign a young right-back who can succeed him.
In addition, with Lucas Vazquez being inconsistent this season, the need to sign a right-back has accelerated. Several players, including Reece James, have thus emerged on Real Madrid’s radar. But Alexander-Arnold is also a viable target for the reigning La Liga champions.
But Real Madrid might face stiff competition for the 24-year-old, with Barcelona also interested in him. In addition, Liverpool will likely demand a premium for the Englishman, considering his deal runs until June 30, 2025. So the asking price will be higher than his market value of €65 million.
