Chelsea could look to offload 23-year-old Conor Gallagher, who is on the radar of Liverpool and Newcastle United.
According to a report by Fabrizio Romano via Caught Offside, Chelsea are considering letting go of Conor Gallagher in the summer. The 23-year-old hasn’t had much game time in the ongoing season and he could be subject to a move in the summer if the right bid arrives.
The England international had a successful loan spell at Crystal Palace last season. And, he was expected to break into the first team in the ongoing season. While he has featured for the Blues in quite a few matches. The 23-year-old hasn’t had the desired number of minutes on the pitch.
Gallagher has been involved in 37 matches for the London club in the ongoing season and has been involved in 3 goals. But, he has been on the pitch for less than 1500 minutes. His current contract with the Blues runs until the summer of 2025.
However, he could be on his way out in the summer given the amount of interest in his services. And, the fact that the London club need to offload a few players to balance their books. They have spent a fortune on acquiring young talented players in the last few windows. And, are expected to offload a few of their players in the summer.
While talking about Gallagher’s future, Romano said: “I’m aware there has been talk of Liverpool, Newcastle and others eyeing up Conor Gallagher. His departure this summer is a possibility, but nothing clear yet on clubs approaching him. There’s nothing advanced at this stage. Chelsea will consider bids as they need to sell some players but nothing is 100% decided yet.”
Meanwhile, Liverpool and Newcastle who are keen on the 23-year-old have been handed a major boost as the Blues might look to offload the England international.
The Merseyside club have struggled in the ongoing season and are keen on signing quite a few midfielders in the summer. Jurgen Klopp is looking for a complete overhaul in the centre of the park in order to revive his team. And, the German manager is interested in having the Chelsea midfielder in his ranks.
His arrival could bolster their squad as well as help their cause. However, they will have to battle it out with the Magpies. The richest club in world football have been doing great business in the transfer window of late. They have built a decent squad and are looking to add to it in the summer.
Eddie Howe is looking to add a new midfielder to his ranks ahead of next season. And, Gallagher is one of the names on his list. The Newcastle boss believes the 23-year-old could be a great addition for the present as well as the future of the club.
