Galatasaray are keen on signing Ibrahima Konate in the summer, although Liverpool are unlikely to part ways with their key defender.

According to Turkish outlet Aspor, Galatasaray want to reinforce their backline with the star signing of Ibrahima Konate. The report states the Turkish club are confident, but there is no way Liverpool will part ways with their key man ahead of a crucial summer window.

Galatasaray are on the rise once again and have been the best team in Turkey this season. They are inching towards the domestic title with a six-point advantage over second-placed Fenerbahce. The Super Lig side have now switched their focus towards the summer window, hoping to make some strong signings.

They are keen to reinforce their backline in the next window and have been exploring options from everywhere. Galatasaray wanted to do business in January when they looked to sign some players from the Premier League. However, now, they are keen to build a strong squad capable enough to go far in the Champions League.

As for the new defender, the report states the name of one Ibrahima Konate. The 23-year-old Liverpool star has steadily grown into his role and is considered a key player by manager Jurgen Klopp. While things have been rocky this season, the 23-year-old star has had good performances.

Going back to the Galatasaray interest, Konate reportedly has big admirers in the market. For any rising Premier League star, a move to Turkey may seem like a downgrade. Hence, there is no chance for the 23-year-old Liverpool star to go there.

The report states Liverpool might only consider sending Konate out on loan, thus ruling out a permanent move for the 23-year-old defender. In reality, the story may seem absurd from the Merseyside club’s point of view. Moreover, even if the Reds considered a temporary move away for Konate, some of the biggest clubs will come in with interest, even if they can have him only for a single season.

Meanwhile, Liverpool are themselves lining up new defenders to shore up their backline with Konate in their plans. Hence, it seems unlikely the report is anything other than a rumour created out of thin air. Even if Galatasaray were keen, the 23-year-old Liverpool star is unlikely to join them at this stage of his career.
