Everton keen on Juventus defender Federico Gatti

Everton could approach Juventus defender Federico Gatti if they manage to fight-off relegation and stay up in the Premier League.

Federico Gatti’s name has become common in Turin over the last few weeks, with the Juventus star making a mark with his good performances. According to Calciomercato, Everton are keen on the 24-year-old Serie A ace.

Federico Gatti’s career has been one of hard work and determination. Rising from the fourth tier of Italian football, the 24-year-old Serie A ace has made his way to the top and recently became an important player for Massimiliano Allegri.

While Juventus signed him in January 2022, he was returned to his old club Frosinone for another six months. He returned to Turin for pre-season and has generally struggled to break into the first team. However, since the end of January, Gatti has made good strides and has now become one of their key players.

The goal against Sporting in the Europa League quarter-finals may have been a high point for the 24-year-old Serie A ace personally. He will now look to cement his place in the squad under Allegri and hope to become the bedrock of their defence for years to come.

However, there are lots of problems brewing in the background at Juventus involving finances. Some of their reported targets are bargain moves like their links to Ilkay Gundogan to strengthen the midfield. There are also mentions of possible sales involving key assets, including Dusan Vlahovic.

Gatti could fall into a similar category as Juventus reportedly value the defender at €25-30 million in the current market. They could evaluate his performances until the season ends and then decide on his future.

Premier League side Everton are reportedly keen on the 24-year-old Serie A ace. The Toffees have struggled for relevance this season and continue to fight a relegation dogfight to ensure their safety. If they do manage to stay up, then the Merseysiders might look to strengthen the squad for the upcoming season.

The central defence could become a priority area for Everton in the next window. And owing to their financial troubles, they could show caution with their dealings. Gatti would certainly fall in their budget for next summer, although much will depend on the player wanting to play here.

Juventus are already looking at defensive options for next summer and may have to raise funds through sales to buy players. Hence, a transfer of Gatti could become possible, although much will depend on how Allegri sees things with his squad.

For now, Everton will focus on ensuring safety in the Premier League and possibly draw out summer plans. A player like Gatti could elevate the quality of their current defence and change their ideas for next season.
