Manchester United sound out Dani Olmo

Manchester United could target Dani Olmo in the summer, with the attacking midfielder entering a crucial stage of his RB Leipzig career.

According to Sport Bild via Sport Witness, Manchester United are keeping tabs on Dani Olmo’s situation. The 24-year-old Bundesliga playmaker remains keen to join a club playing in the Champions League.

Dani Olmo was a star rising in his environment at RB Leipzig. The 24-year-old Bundesliga playmaker was regularly selected for the Spanish national side. On the other hand, he has garnered the attention of some of the big clubs.

RB Leipzig have managed to keep hold of the playmaker for so long, but they could consider a sale in the summer. The Bundesliga side could finish outside of the Champions League places. Such a situation could prompt them to sell players to cover the financial loss.

Olmo’s contract expires in 2024, with Leipzig hoping for at least €40 million in return. Some interested clubs include Real Madrid and Barcelona. The Spanish giants have admired the 24-year-old Bundesliga playmaker for a long time.

Reports suggested Olmo would prefer a move to Real Madrid over Barcelona if those were the options. There are doubts about whether Carlo Ancelotti’s side genuinely needs him. He could become a contingent option to some of their other targets.

With that door half open, Olmo might consider interest from Premier League clubs. Manchester City were keen at some stage, and now, Manchester United are also mentioned as a possible suitor. Erik ten Hag is keen to sign an attacking player to bolster his options.

Considering the price Leipzig may want, Manchester United could make an offer. Moreover, the report suggested the Red Devils have contacted Olmo’s father and agent to understand his plans away from Leipzig.

The suggestion is that Olmo would remain open to the Premier League but wants a club playing in the Champions League. Manchester United are well-placed to finish in the top four as they look to run away from fifth-placed Tottenham in the coming weeks.

The 24-year-old Bundesliga playmaker could flourish under ten Hag at Old Trafford and begin his Premier League career. He could also prove a quality addition to what may seem like a younger version of Christian Eriksen. There are only rumours of interest for now. But that could change in the coming period.
