Chelsea will reportedly soon tie Ben Chilwell to a new four-year deal that will last until June 30, 2027, amid interest from Manchester City.
According to a report by The Athletic, Ben Chilwell is not leaving Chelsea anytime soon. The English international, who joined the Blues in a deal worth £50 million, will sign a new four-year contract. And the update comes as a blow for Manchester City, who recently showed interest in him.
Ben Chilwell spent the early years of his youth career with Woburn Lions, Bletchley Youth, and Rushden & Diamonds before joining Leicester City. And he rose to prominence with the Foxes, although he had to bide his time somewhat. Meanwhile, the 26-year-old joined Chelsea in August 2020 in a deal worth £50 million, including add-ons.
But Chilwell has struggled with fitness issues, with the latest long-term concern hampering him last season. However, the English international has bounced back this term, chipping in with two goals and four assists in 25 outings. Meanwhile, the player’s resurgence had captured the attention of Manchester City.
Manchester City will look to sign a left-back in the summer transfer window despite bringing in Sergio Gomez last year. But with the young Spaniard failing to make his mark, he faces an uncertain future at the Etihad. In addition, Joao Cancelo’s Manchester City stint will likely end this summer.
With several European bigwigs keen on signing him, Cancelo will leave Manchester City in the coming months. And Chilwell has emerged as a viable target to bolster the left-back berth at the Etihad. But Chelsea never considered parting ways with the English international this summer.
Recent reports claimed the Blues were not interested in selling the 26-year-old. And Chelsea and Chilwell are now on the verge of sealing a four-year agreement. The two parties will finalise a deal that will run until June 30, 2027, with the player ready to commit his future to Chelsea.

Meanwhile, Manchester City will now need to identify alternatives for the Englishman. So Chelsea will not have to resort to the market to replace the signing who cost them £50 million. And it will be interesting to see who the Citizens identify to bolster their left-back options this year.
