Liverpool are all set to battle it out with Tottenham Hotspur for the services of 27-year-old Fulham midfielder Joao Palhinha.

According to Dean Jones via GiveMeSport, Liverpool and Tottenham Hotspur are keen on having Joao Palhinha in their ranks. The 27-year-old midfielder has been on fire in the ongoing season. And, his performances haven’t gone unnoticed.

Palhinha joined the Sporting CP youth academy back in the winter of 2013. He went up the ranks at the club and became an integral part of their first team. His consistent performances caught the eye of Fulham who signed him ahead of the ongoing season.

The 27-year-old joined the Cottagers for a fee of £17 million. The Portugal international penned down a five-year deal with the club. His contract runs until the summer of 2027.

However, the amount of interest in his services suggests that he could be on the move in the upcoming transfer window. The Fulham manager is keen on keeping hold of his star midfielder who has been one of the main reasons for their success in the ongoing season.

However, there are chances that one of the big clubs from across Europe could prise the 27-year-old away from the club. An amount of around £50 million could be enough to land him.

Liverpool who have been poor in the ongoing season will look for reinforcements in the summer. They are expected to sign multiple midfielders in the summer. Their main target is Jude Bellingham but they also have their eyes on the Fulham star.

Palhinha has it all to make an immediate impact at the Merseyside club. And, Jurgen Klopp will love to have him at his disposal. However, they will face competition from Tottenham. The London club have already started planning for the summer despite not being aware of who their next manager will be.

They want to upgrade their midfield as they look to end their trophy drought. And, has the 27-year-old as an important transfer target. Spurs believe Palhinha who has featured in 31 matches and has four goal contributions in the ongoing season could bolster their squad.

The Portuguese international can help them have control in the centre of the park and push for glory next season. While both the English clubs are keen on having him in their ranks, it will be interesting to see if they can prise him away from the Cottagers.
