La Liga champions Real Madrid are reportedly increasingly away from signing Jude Bellingham, a target for Liverpool.
According to Spanish journalist Sergio Santos, Jude Bellingham might not join Real Madrid in the summer transfer window. The reigning La Liga champions are cooling their interest in the 19-year-old due to various factors. And the latest development will come as a boost for other suitors like Liverpool.
Jude Bellingham has become the hottest property in the market since his breakthrough at Birmingham City FC. The Englishman has come leaps and bounds since emerging on the scene as a budding 16-year-old. And his stock has skyrocketed since joining Borussia Dortmund nearly three years ago.
The 19-year-old is now pivotal for his club and the English national side. And the player is enjoying a stunning 2022/23 season thus far, amassing ten goals and seven assists in 36 outings. Meanwhile, Bellingham’s progress has not gone unnoticed, with Real Madrid and Liverpool among his prospective suitors.
Recent reports have claimed that Real Madrid will be willing to offer a lucrative contract to the teenage sensation. And the interest in the player is hardly surprising, considering Luka Modric and Toni Kroos are no spring chickens anymore. While the two ageing stalwarts are still on top of their games, they are in the twilight of their careers.
So Real Madrid must sign a long-term successor to both players, with Bellingham emerging as a viable target. But while recent reports claimed that the Merengues are well-placed to sign the 19-year-old, they are cooling their interest in him. The latest development comes as a boost for Liverpool.
The Reds desperately need to beef up their midfield amid a disastrous 2022/23 season. James Milner, Naby Keita, and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain will leave Liverpool as free agents. Meanwhile, Jordan Henderson and Fabinho have regressed considerably. So Bellingham is a viable target for Liverpool.

And the Reds are in a healthy position to sign the 19-year-old amid Real Madrid’s latest decision. The reigning La Liga champions are in a position to afford Bellingham’s signature. But stadium costs and the transfer fee mean, they are being prudent in their spending. So it will be interesting to see if Liverpool can pounce on the situation and secure the youngster’s services.
