Liverpool pushing for a move for Nico Williams

Liverpool are sensing an opportunity to sign Nico Williams owing to his contractual problems with Athletic Bilbao.

According to Fichajes, Liverpool are pushing to sign Nico Williams in the summer. Jurgen Klopp likes the Spaniard and wants to continue rebuilding his attacking line with the 20-year-old La Liga winger in his setup.

Nico Williams has achieved considerable progress to become one of the main cogs of Athletic Club’s attacking setup. Ernesto Valverde considers the 20-year-old La Liga winger important for the club and his plans, as a departure would hurt the team.

Williams’ contract expires in the summer of 2024, and here have been roadblocks in agreeing on an extension. If things remain the same, Athletic could consider a sale of the 20-year-old La Liga winger, with plenty of interested suitors from England.

Tactically, Williams would fit into several top clubs in the Premier League. Mikel Arteta has kept tabs on the forward and eyes a move for the 20-year-old La Liga winger as Arsenal aim to bring a cover for Bukayo Saka. He could flourish in such an attack-minded side, but the Gunners are not the only suitor.

Manchester United and Liverpool are also keen alongside Real Madrid, with the latter already eyeing a move for Mohamed Salah. If the Egyptian decides to leave in the summer, the Merseysiders could look for a viable replacement, and Williams fits the bill.

Jurgen Klopp may want to continue rebuilding his attacking line in the summer. In the last few windows, Luis Diaz and Darwin Nunez arrived at the club, and if Salah departs, Williams may become the ideal replacement. Moreover, Roberto Firmino is also set to leave, indicating that the manager might change his approach and ideas.

Liverpool have identified Williams as a player who could make their team better. They are reportedly sensing an opportunity with the 20-year-old La Liga winger and want to take advantage of his contractual situation. The Merseysiders are currently pushing for a move to sign him and may open talks with Athletic.

Willams has become a regular with the Spanish side under former manager Luis Enrique and could retain his place depending on whoever comes in next. He could become a star at Liverpool or any other top Premier League side, although if the Reds do not qualify for the Champions League, it might hurt their chances for a transfer next summer.
