Wojciech Szczesny emerges as a target for Manchester United in the summer as they could ponder changing their goalkeeping options.

According to Tutto Mercato, Wojciech Szczesny is a target for Manchester United, who ponders making a move for the Polish stopper. The 32-year-old Serie A goalkeeper could depart Juventus seeking a new challenge. A return to England remains heavily mooted for the former Arsenal star.

Wojciech Szczesny has been a steady presence since signing for Juventus. After enduring problems with Arsene Wenger during his Arsenal days, the Polish stopper impressed at Roma on loan for a season. Juventus snapped him up on a cut-price deal with his contract running out at the Emirates.

Juventus faces a similar situation with Szczesny as he enters the final year of his current deal that expires in 2024. The Turin giants are already thinking about changing personnel between the sticks, and the 32-year-old Serie A star could seek a change.

Many sections of the media have mentioned a move back to the Premier League for many months now. Tottenham were reportedly interested in Szczesny. The Pole may prefer something else owing to his deep allegiance with Arsenal in the past.

He might remain open to considering other options, such as Manchester United, who retain an interest. Erik ten Hag continues to deliberate on a decision to either replace David De Gea or keep him. The Red Devils want to reward the Spanish star for his unwavering service and performances for the club, but things seem complicated.

De Gea recently rejected a proposal from Manchester United involving a substantial pay cut from his current salary. While reports suggested, he could eventually sign an extension. The two parties, however, still need to progress in their negotiations.

With De Gea’s future a matter of concern, Manchester United are already considering other options. Some may not represent a direct replacement for the Spaniard, but someone like Szczesny will undoubtedly do. The 32-year-old Serie A star will not join any club to become their second choice.

Hence, a move for the Polish star could only materialise if the new club promises him a prominent role. In Manchester United’s case, they must make him their No.1, which can only happen if De Gea leaves. For now, Ten Hag continues to ponder making an approach that could remain on the cards during the summer.
