Tottenham Hotspur and Arsenal are interested in acquiring the services of Lazio midfielder Sergej Milinkovic-Savic.

According to Il Romanista, Tottenham Hotspur and Arsenal are set to battle it out for Sergej Milinkovic-Savic. Both the Premier League clubs are keen on having the 28-year-old in their ranks and are expected to push for his services in the summer.

While both the clubs are interested in signing him ahead of next season, they could decide to wait for his contract to expire the next summer and then land him at the club as a free agent.

Milinkovic-Savic’s contract at Lazio ends in the summer of 2024. The club is keen on penning down a new deal with the player but the 28-year-old is not keen on extending his stay at the Serie A club.

While it would make sense to sell him in the upcoming window to raise funds. The Lazio bosses have decided that they won’t let go of their star man unless they receive a sizeable price for the Serbian international. Even if it means losing out on him for free the following summer.

Milinkovic-Savic has been a part of Lazio since joining them back in the summer of 2015 from KRC Genk. He has gone from strength to strength since joining them. And, has become one of their most important players of late.

The 28-year-old has featured in over 300 matches for the Serie A club and has over 120 goal contributions. He has found the back of the net on 65 occasions and has 59 assists to his name.

As far as the ongoing season is concerned, he has featured in 37 matches and has 15 goal contributions. The Serbian midfielder is on the radar of multiple clubs from across Europe. Arsenal and Spurs are two English clubs keen on the Lazio midfielder.

Spurs are already planning for the next season despite having no idea about who their next boss will be. They have identified the midfield as a key area that needs reinforcement and are willing to push for the Lazio star. His arrival will add a lot of composure in the centre of the park.

Tottenham will face competition from the Gunners who have also been linked with the 28-year-old for a while now. Arteta is keen on adding more quality to his midfield before they return to the UEFA Champions League.

The Spanish manager believes that there is a need for a world-class midfielder in the centre of the park and the arrival of Milinkovic-Savic will surely make them challengers for the European title. However, both clubs could wait for another year if Lazio don’t reduce their asking price.
