Liverpool eyeing up summer move for Ibrahim Sangare

Liverpool are interested in signing 25-year-old PSV Eindhoven defensive midfielder Ibrahim Sangare ahead of next season.

According to Football Insider, Liverpool want to sign Ibrahim Sangare ahead of next season. The 25-year-old PSV Eindhoven star has been performing on a consistent basis of late. And, quite a few clubs have their eyes set on him.

The Merseyside club wanted to land the Ivory Coast international last summer. They did push for his signatures in 2022 but failed to land the 25-year-old. However, they are all set to push for him again this summer.

The Dutch club agreed on a new deal with their defensive midfielder last summer in order to extend his stay at the club. His new contract runs until the summer of 2027. However, they could agree to let him leave for a fee of around £45 million as per the reports.

Sangare joined PSV from Toulouse back in the summer of 2020. He has gone from strength to strength since joining the club. The 25-year-old is considered the mainstay of Ruud van Nistelrooy’s side. And, he has been on top of his game in the ongoing season.

The Ivory Coast international has scored seven goals and has three assists in 38 appearances across all competitions in the current campaign. He has been a rock in front of their backline. And, the interest from the Merseyside club is quite understandable.

Liverpool are in need of a midfield overhaul. They have been disappointing in the ongoing season and currently fighting for a top-four spot. Jurgen Klopp is expected to push for multiple midfielders in the upcoming window.

He is a big admirer of the 25-year-old. And would love to have the PSV defensive midfielder in their ranks. The Merseyside club have been monitoring Sangare for a while now and believe he could solve quite a few of their concerns.

While they are willing to go big for him, it won’t be that easy a task to sign him despite PSV willing to listen to offers. Sangare is expected to be a hot property in the summer, and some of the biggest clubs across Europe are expected to push for the Ivory Coast international. As a result, it will be interesting to see if they can manage to land him in the summer.
