Tottenham Hotspur have the opportunity to sign 28-year-old Manchester City defender Aymeric Laporte ahead of next season.

According to 90min, Tottenham Hotspur have been offered a chance to sign Aymeric Laporte. The 28-year-old Manchester City defender has fallen down the pecking order at his club and is expected to part ways in the summer.

Laporte joined the Athletic Club youth academy back in 2010. He went through the ranks at the club and became an integral part of their squad. His performances attracted the attention of Manchester City, who bought him in the winter of 2018.

He managed to break into Pep Guardiola’s first team after arriving at the club and become an important player under the Spanish boss. However, an injury ahead of the ongoing season saw him fall down the pecking order.

The Spain international has featured in 16 matches and has been on the pitch for a total of just over 1,300 minutes so far. The 28-year-old finds himself behind Ruben Dias, John Stones, Nathan Ake and summer signing Manuel Akanji in the pecking order.

The lack of game time has frustrated Laporte, and he is considering his future at the club despite having a contract that runs until the summer of 2025. As per reports, City are ready to let the 28-year-old leave in the summer if the right bid arrives.

Meanwhile, Tottenham have been offered a chance to sign him. Spurs are looking to add a new left-sided centre-back in their ranks ahead of next season. While they might be on the look for a new manager at this point in time, they have still started planning for next season.

The London club have their eyes on the 28-year-old wantaway Manchester City star. They believe his arrival could bolster their defence, which has not been consistent enough in the ongoing season. Laporte could be a great addition to their ranks but it won’t be that easy to land him at the club.

Paris Saint-Germain are also interested in his services. The French club are also looking for a new left-sided centre-back, and they are keen on having the Spain international in their ranks. As a result, it will be interesting to see if Spurs manage to land the City defender ahead of next season.
