Aymeric Laporte, valued at £40 million, has been linked with a summer move away from Manchester City, with PSG interested.

A report from Football Insider claims that Paris Saint-Germain are keen on signing Aymeric Laporte during the summer transfer window. Manchester City will demand £40 million to part ways with the 28-year-old.

Laporte has fallen down the pecking order at Manchester City, and he needs to leave the club to play regularly. The defender has started just six games in the Premier League this season. And a player of his ability will be hoping to play more often.

Apparently, the Spanish international does not have any shortage of suitors. But he is likely to leave the Premier League during the summer transfer window. Manchester City do not want to strengthen their rivals by selling a quality player to them. So a move to PSG might be more acceptable for the Premier League giants.

Laporte has been an important player for Manchester City since joining the club in 2018 for a fee of around £57.2 million. The Premier League giants are willing to let the player leave for a fee of around £40 million in the summer. PSG certainly have the resources to afford him, and it remains to be seen whether the two clubs can iron out the details of the move.

The French champions need to add more quality at the back, and Laporte would be a superb acquisition for them. The 28-year-old is at the peak of his powers and could improve them immediately.

PSG looked quite vulnerable at the back in the Champions League this season. So they must look to bring in top-quality defenders at the end of the season. It is hardly a surprise that they are keeping tabs on the Manchester City star.

The 28-year-old has already proven his quality in the Premier League over the years, and a move to PSG could be the fresh start he needs right now. He is likely to play week in and week out with the French club and could be the ideal partner for Marquinhos at the heart of PSG’s defence.
