Inter Milan could offer Donny van de Beek an escape route out of Manchester United in the summer if the conditions are right.

According to Fichajes, Inter Milan are reportedly interested in Donny van de Beek, who may end his Manchester United career in the summer transfer window. The Dutch midfielder has failed to light up Old Trafford since completing a €39 million  move. And he has failed to revive his career under Erik ten Hag this season.

Donny van de Beek could soon see words like ‘flop’ associated with his time at Manchester United. The €39 million star arrived at Old Trafford with huge expectations. He never came close to emulating his form at Ajax and struggled for relevance under former manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.

After a disastrous loan spell at Everton, van de Beek returned, and fans were optimistic about a revival. Many expected the midfielder to find his best form under former Ajax manager Erik ten Hag. However, the Manchester United boss was barely convinced to select him regularly.

Van de Beek made seven Premier League appearances before a serious knee injury ended his season prematurely. He is nowhere for the €39 million star in ten Hag’s squad, and Manchester United could cut their losses next summer.

Before his injury, there were loan enquiries in January. But the Dutch midfielder now finds himself on the list of other clubs ahead of the summer. Inter Milan are keen on the midfielder as they look for a potential replacement for Marcelo Brozovic.

The Croat has suitors outside of Italy, and after coming close to leaving in January, a summer transfer seems possible. Manchester United know they cannot get their investment back but will certainly demand a significant return.

Inter Milan are not financially healthy and do not have the luxury of having a player like van de Beek as an additional player. The Serie A giants will only make a move if Brozovic departs, which may seem certain. There is hope the Dutchman could revive his career away from England after his failure following the €39 million move.

In the summer, more clubs could emerge with interest in the Dutch star, including a few from the Premier League. Spanish clubs might also make approaches. But Inter Milan seem like a good place to restart and get back into playing at the highest levels.
