Crystal Palace are reportedly interested in signing 20-year-old French midfielder Skelly Alvero from Sochaux.

According to Fabrizio Romano, Crystal Palace are tracking 20-year-old French midfielder Skelly Alvero. And they could look to make a move for him at the end of the season. The Premier League club will face competition from German outfit Borussia Monchengladbach, who are keen on signing the soul Sochaux midfielder as well.

Apparently, the player is likely to cost around €3-4 million, and he could leave the French club at the end of the season. Both Crystal Palace and Gladbach have the financial resources to pay the reported asking price. And it will be interesting to see where the 20-year-old ends up.

The highly talented central midfielder is versatile enough to operate as an attacking midfielder as well. So he could prove to be a quality long-term investment for Crystal Palace, who have shown interest in players like Alex Scott lately.

The Eagles need to add more creativity and technical ability in the middle of the park. And the 20-year-old could prove to be the ideal acquisition for them. Crystal Palacehave a talented young core of players at the club, and Alvero would be another superb option to have.

It remains to be seen whether the Premier League side can fend off the competition from the Bundesliga club and secure his services. Alvero is likely to earn more money in England. But regular football in Germany could aid his development.

Furthermore, Crystal Palace are involved in a relegation battle, and Alvero might not want to join a club that could be in the Championship next season. On top of that, Crystal Palace recently sacked manager Patrick Vieira and have appointed Roy Hodgson as his interim successor.

The 75-year-old is unlikely to be at Crystal Palace next season ,and the Eagles are currently lacking stability. A talented young midfielder like Alvero will not want to join a club with an uncertain future.

It will be interesting to see how the situation develops over the next few months. The youngster must look to join the club where he will get regular football at a high level. So a move to Bundesliga might seem ideal for him right now.
