Barcelona are reportedly interested in signing Colombian winger Luis Diaz from Liverpool at the end of the season.

A report from Catalunya Radio claims that Barcelona are hoping to sign a top-class winger in the summer. And they have identified Colombian international Luis Diaz as a potential target.

Along with Diaz, Liverpool talisman Mohammed Salah and Tottenham Hotspur winger Son Heung-Min are also on their radar. Meanwhile, Diaz has been an instant hit since his move from FC Porto. And it is highly unlikely that Liverpool will let him leave the club anytime soon.

The Colombian has missed the majority of the season with a long-term injury. But he has now returned to normal training and he is likely to feature in the upcoming matches for Liverpool. The 26-year-old was signed as the long-term replacement for club legend Sadio Mane, who left for Bayern Munich at the start of the season.

Diaz join the club in January 2022 and made an immediate impact at his new club. Liverpool managed to win two trophies last season and they were close to winning the quadruple. Diaz was one of the main reasons why Liverpool were so successful during the second half of the campaign last year. And his market value has zoomed to €75 million as a result.

The Colombian is unlikely to want to leave Liverpool either, and he will be hoping to get back to his best after a lengthy injury layoff. Furthermore, Diaz has a long-term contract with the Reds, and Barcelona will probably have to pay a premium in order to tempt Liverpool into selling the player.

The winger is valued at €75 million according to Transfermarkt. Barcelona are going through financial difficulties and they are unlikely to be able to afford him without a major departure. It is no secret that Barcelona need to improve their attacking options in the coming months.

While summer signing Raphinha has failed to make a lasting impact, star striker Robert Lewandowski is in his twilight years. Bringing in another top-class winger and striker should be a top priority for them. It will be interesting to see if Barcelona can sort out the depth issues in their squad during the summer transfer window.

They are favourites to win the La Liga title this season. But Barcelona will be hoping to do well in the UEFA Champions League as well. They will need a deeper squad with more quality in order to compete on all fronts next season. But signing Diaz from Liverpool seems unlikely.
