Real Madrid will reportedly look to sign Bayern Munich wide man Alphonso Davies, whose market value is €70 million, in 2024.

According to a report by Spanish outlet Defensa Central, Alphonso Davies is the subject of interest from Real Madrid. And Los Blancos will look to sign the Bayern Munich wide man in the 2024 summer transfer window. The Canadian international will have one year left on his contract then, making him an attractive prospect.

Alphonso Davies has seen his stock skyrocket since joining Bayern Munich from Vancouver Whitecaps in January 2019. The 22-year-old has come leaps and bounds in the last four years, becoming a regular for Bayern. At the same time, he has signalled Canada’s rise on the international stage, with the nation reaching the 2022 FIFA World Cup.

The Canadian international has enjoyed a solid 2022/23 season despite having an injury-riddled campaign. Davies has chipped in with three goals and eight assists in 32 appearances thus far. And his market value has shot up to €70 million. Meanwhile, the player’s progress has captured the attention of several high-profile clubs, including Real Madrid.

At Real Madrid, Ferland Mendy faces an uncertain future. The Frenchman arrived at the Santiago Bernabeu and immediately became the first-choice left-back. But his performance levels have waned in the last couple of seasons. And widespread reports have claimed that he might not be at Real Madrid for many more years.

In addition, David Alaba is on the wrong side of 30 and primarily starts as a centre-back. So it behoves Real Madrid to invest in a long-term solution for the left-back slot. And Davies has thus emerged as a target for the reigning La Liga champions. But Real Madrid will not launch the offensive this summer.

The Merengues are instead ready to wait until the 2024 summer transfer window to sign Davies. The 22-year-old will have less than one year left on his contract then, and Los Blancos can pounce on the situation. The Bayern Munich wide man will also likely command a price much lower than his market value of €70 million.

But it will be interesting to see if Bayern Munich can tie the Canadian international to a new deal before then. Meanwhile, Davies is not the only Bayern Munich player on Real Madrid’s radar over a 2024 move, with Benjamin Pavard also a target.
