Liverpool are prioritising signing Josko Gvardiol in the summer, with Jurgen Klopp eager to land the €100 million-rated Bundesliga defender.

According to Fichajes, Liverpool want Josko Gvardiol on priority ahead of the summer window. Jurgen Klopp is eyeing a transformational defensive signing and believes the Croat could change their fortunes. The €100 million-rated defender has plenty of other suitors in the market, which may pose a problem for the Merseysiders.

Liverpool are set to enter the final phase of the Premier League season with their sole focus on finishing in the top four. It is a challenging task for Jurgen Klopp, considering their chances are slim compared to other rivals, including Tottenham, Newcastle United and Brighton & Hove Albion.

There are plenty of suggestions ahead of next season on what Jurgen Klopp needs to do to transform the club’s fortunes. The idea of signing another high-profile, expensive defender remains among the top ideas, with many urging the club to repeat the trick with Virgil Van Dijk.

As Liverpool desperately need a new central defender, some of their targets may hinge on Champions League football. Names like Evan Ndicka remain linked, with the Frenchman set to become a free agent. Klopp will fear the competition for the Frankfurt defender. But the 23-year-old is not his primary target.

Josko Gvardiol remains their priority in the market. With Liverpool ready and well-placed to sign the defender, it would seem like a big coup. The fact that Klopp is even considering shows he is ready to spend big on a single player, reminiscent of Van Dijk.

Klopp wants to prioritise bringing the RB Leizpig defender but knows the huge €100 million fee needed to prise him away. Liverpool could convince the player to arrive without Champions League football for one season.

But Manchester City and Chelsea could become stumbling blocks in Liverpool’s pursuit of the defender. Pep Guardiola is reportedly pushing the club to sign the defender. However, much will become clearer in the summer about his next destination.

As for Liverpool, they are desperate to make a huge mark in the market and bring in a marquee name. Gvardiol will improve their defensive ranks and transform the backline. The real question will linger around on Liverpool’s ability to pay big to Bundesliga giants Leipzig compared to their rivals.
