La Liga heavyweights Barcelona have reportedly set their sights on 15-year-old Croatian wonderkid Ljubo Puljic.

According to a report by reputed Italian journalist Gianluca Di Marzio, Ljubo Puljic is the subject of interest from Barcelona. The Catalan giants have initiated discussions over a move for the 15-year-old. But they will face stiff competition from Bayern Munich, Borussia Dortmund, and Juventus for the NK Osijek wonderkid.

Ljubo Puljic is one of several highly-rated prospects in Croatia that give the nation hope for a bright future. The Balkan country has seen the golden generation clinch a top-three finish in successive World Cups. But there have been concerns over how the next generation will fare in the coming tournaments.

Croatia has already witnessed the rise of Josko Gvardiol. And the nation is now bearing witness to the advent of two other prodigious central defenders. One of them is Luka Vuskovic, a target for several top clubs. And the other is a player from his age group, Ljubo Puljic, who has captured the attention of Barcelona.

The Catalan giants constantly scour the market for prodigious prospects. Such an outlook has brought many legendary players to Barcelona. And they have recently benefitted from their forays by signing Pedri. Meanwhile, recent reports have linked Barcelona with Hamburger SV wonderkid Saido Balde.

Ljubo Puljic has now emerged on Barcelona’s radar, and it is hardly surprising why he is a target. The 15-year-old Croatian wonderkid is a left-footed centre-back, a rare commodity in the market. In addition, he is a tough-tackling defender who reads the game well while being proficient in the air.

With all these qualities, it is no surprise that Puljic has attracted several high-profile clubs. Apart from Barcelona, Bayern Munich, Borussia Dortmund, and Juventus are also interested in the teenager. But the Catalan giants have already opened talks to sign the youngster.

The report does not mention how discussions are progressing. But Barcelona will likely step up the efforts to sign the 15-year-old Croatian wonderkid. And considering his potential, it might not take Puljic long to graduate from La Masia and become a first-team regular.
