Chelsea do not value Mason Mount highly amid transfer links

Chelsea don’t value their 24-year-old midfielder Mason Mount highly enough amid interest from rivals Liverpool.

According to Paul Brown Via GiveMeSport, Masont Mount isn’t valued highly enough by Chelsea. The 24-year-old has been unhappy at the club because of his contract situation. Meanwhile, Liverpool are keeping a close eye on the situation and would love to have him in their ranks.

Mount has been a part of Chelsea right from the start of his career. He was subject to multiple loan moves to gain first-team experience. The 24-year-old has gone through the ranks at the club and has become an integral part of their team.

The England international was promoted to their first team after an impressive loan spell at Derby County back in the 2018/19 season. Mount has since featured in 192 matches for the Blues and has 70 goal contributions to his name.

The 24-year-old played an important role in their UEFA Champions League triumph a few years back. And despite the ongoing differences between the player and the club, he still remains an important part of their team. Mount has made 32 appearances in the ongoing season and has 9 goal contributions.

His contract with Chelsea runs until the summer of 2024. With just over a year left on his contract, the club have tried renewing it but they have failed to meet the demands of the 24-year-old. Mount wants pay parity with some of the highest earners of the club but the Blues are not keen on paying him those big wages.

As a result, the Blues haven’t managed to extend his contract. And, people close to Mount believe that the England international is not valued high enough at the club.

Paul Brown said: “Mount’s situation has been rumbling around for a lot longer than people think. I think the first story about his contract and being unhappy started to surface over a year ago, people forget that. This situation has been brewing for quite a long time. People around him have been briefing that they don’t feel he’s valued highly enough by Chelsea.”

Meanwhile, Liverpool have been interested in the 24-year-old. And, they have been handed a major boost. With the player’s contract set to end in just over a year, the club are expected to offload him in the summer. The Blues won’t want to risk losing him out for free next season.

The Merseyside club have been keeping an eye on his situation for quite a while now. And, they will look to push for his signatures in the summer. Jurgen Klopp’s team have struggled in the ongoing season and a lot of it is because of an inconsistent midfield.

The German manager wants a complete overhaul in the centre of the park ahead of next season. He is a big admirer of Mount and the 24-year-old’s arrival will surely help their cause. However, it will be interesting to see if the Blues do agree to sell one of their homegrown talents to a rival club.
