Chelsea and Manchester United are leading the chase for Kouadio Kone in the summer, with the Borussia Monchengladbach midfielder set to move.

According to Fabrizio Romano, Chelsea and Manchester United are leading contenders to sign Kouadio Kone in the summer. The €50 million-rated midfielder could depart Borussia Monchengladbach for a bigger challenge as top clubs are chasing his signature.

Kouadio Kone, aka Manu Kone, has made a lasting impression with his performances for Borussia Monchengladbach this season. His displays, particularly against Bayern Munich, have caught the eye of bigger clubs, with the Bundesliga side ready to sell for the right price.

Fabrizio Romano insisted he could cost around €50 million, including add-ons, which will not deter Premier League clubs. Chelsea and Manchester United are keen, but other sides are also chasing Kone’s signature. The English duo have kept tabs on his situation with the view of making an official summer approach.

Chelsea have already established contact with Kone’s camp to understand the particulars of a deal. Todd Boehly wants a viable and long-term partner for January arrival Enzo Fernandez at the start of next season. They are also planning on other players, including extending the contract of N’Golo Kante.

Declan Rice is also on their priority list, but they risk losing the midfielder to Arsenal, who remain front-runners. As Chelsea plans on a move for Kone, the threat of Manchester United looms big for the 21-year-old Bundesliga ace.

Kone will evaluate his options and include multiple factors before deciding on a new club. Manchester United may have the extra incentive of Champions League football in their locker for players like the 21-year-old Bundesliga ace.

Chelsea could offer the promise of a long-term project with exciting young talents. But the lure of Manchester United could trump that. Erik ten Hag will certainly hope that’s the case in the chase as he looks to add a midfielder to his ranks.

January arrival, Marcel Sabitzer may not last beyond the summer, and there is a real need to find a partner for Casemiro. Ten Hag has done a tremendous job of steadying the ship at Old Trafford and will want to further the project with astute signings.

The Premier League duo, for now, remain front-runners for Kone but could have the company of other clubs further down the line. For now, the 21-year-old Bundesliga ace will focus on Monchengladbach for the remainder of the campaign and then think about a move in the summer.
