Manchester United are reportedly keen on signing Victor Osimhen, who will cost around €140 million, at the end of the season.

A report from Calciomercatoweb claims that Manchester United are considering a €140 million move for 24-year-old Nigerian international Victor Osimhen.

Osimhen has been in exceptional form this season. The 24-year-old has 25 goals across all competitions this season, and he has helped Napoli climb to the top of the Serie A table and reach the quarter-finals of the Champions League as well.

Osimhen is undoubtedly one of the best strikers around Europe right now, and he could prove to be a quality long-term addition to the Manchester United attack. Manchester United signed Wout Weghorst on loan in order to help out in the attack. But the experienced Dutch international is set to return to his parent club at the end of the campaign.

The Red Devils must look to add more depth to their attacking unit if they want to challenge for the league title and the Champions League next season. They have been overly dependent on Marcus Rashford this season.

The 25-year-old England international has been exceptional this season. But he needs more support from his teammates. Furthermore, the English international is not a natural striker and is more suited to a wide role. The arrival of Osimhen will allow Rashford to play in his natural role and it would strengthen Manchester United as a team.

Napoli can be difficult to negotiate with, and Manchester United might have to pay well over the odds to secure his services. The reported €140 million fee could certainly tempt the Serie A giants into selling their prized prospect at the end of the season.

Osimhen has previously admitted his desire to play in the Premier League. And it will be interesting to see if the Red Devils can convince him to push for a move at the end of the season. A move to the Premier League would undoubtedly be a major step up in the 24-year-old’s career, and he will be hoping to showcase his qualities at a higher level in England.
