Serie A giants Lazio and Atalanta are reportedly among the clubs keen on signing Reinier Jesus on loan from Real Madrid.

According to a report by Spanish outlet Mundo Deportivo, Reinier Jesus will likely leave Real Madrid on loan again in the summer transfer window. And Serie A might be his next destination, with Lazio and Atalanta interested in securing his services.

It was not long ago that Reinier Jesus had forced pundits in his homeland to compare him with Kaka. He spent his formative years with four Brazilian clubs before finding a stable footing at Flamengo. Soon after, Real Madrid came calling, shelling out €30 million to secure his services.

But apart from a few appearances for Real Madrid Castilla, the 21-year-old is yet to establish a foothold in the first team. And the Brazilian youngster has endured forgettable loan stints in the last three seasons. After a two-year spell at Borussia Dortmund did not work out, Reinier’s next step came at Girona in the summer.

But the Brazilian attacker has managed only ten outings and 343 minutes of game time thus far at the Catalan outfit. So Reinier’s progress has been stunted since arriving at Real Madrid. And it seems unlikely that the youngster will feature in the Real Madrid first team next season. But Serie A clubs Lazio and Atalanta are ready to sign him in the summer transfer window.

At Lazio, Sergej Milinkovic-Savic’s long-term future is a major subject of interest. And the Serie A outfit will likely lose the Serbian midfielder in the summer transfer window. Reinier’s name has thus emerged on the agenda for the Biancocelesti.

On the other hand, Gian Piero Gasperini is operating with a thin squad at Atalanta. And signing the Real Madrid attacker on loan for the 2022/23 season might serve them well. But Lazio and Atalanta also face stiff competition from Brazilian clubs to secure Reinier’s signature.

So while the Brazilian prospect continues to not prove worth the outlay of €30 million, clubs still line up for his signature. It will be interesting to see where he lands in the summer transfer window.
