Barcelona will reportedly look to sign 25-year-old Spanish midfielder Aleix Garcia in a Bosman move this coming summer.

According to a report by Spanish outlet Fichajes, Aleix Garcia has emerged on the radar of FC Barcelona. The 25-year-old midfielder will likely leave Girona as a free agent in the summer transfer window. And the Catalan giants want to sign him in a Bosman move in July.

Aleix Garcia had to bide his time before finding a stable footing in his career. The Spaniard passed through clubs in Spain, England, and Belgium before returning to his homeland. He has even represented Manchester City without making his mark at the Etihad. But the move to Girona in July 2021 has done wonders for his career.

The 25-year-old is currently in his second stint with the Catalan outfit after spending two seasons on loan there between 2017 and 2019. Meanwhile, Garcia has enjoyed a solid 2022/23 season, chipping in with one goal and six assists in 25 La Liga outings. But the Spanish midfielder will likely leave Girona as a free agent in the summer. And his situation has alerted Barcelona.

Barcelona will delve into the market for a midfield reinforcement in the summer transfer window. That is because Sergio Busquets faces an uncertain future at Spotify Camp Nou. The Barcelona captain is in the twilight of his career and unlikely to be a regular for long.

In addition, Franck Kessie’s long-term Barcelona future is not set in stone. And the Blaugrana will need a replacement if Ivory Coast international is no longer at Camp Nou next season. Several midfielders have thus emerged on Barcelona’s radar, including Ruben Neves. But Premier League clubs are ahead of them in the race to sign the Portuguese international.

Aleix Garcia is thus a viable alternative for the Catalan outfit. The 25-year-old Spanish midfielder’s impending free-agent status further makes him an attractive option. And considering Frenkie de Jong, Pedri, and Gavi are the first-choice midfielders, signing a free agent like Garcia makes sense.
