According to a report by Spanish outlet Defensa Central, Gabri Veiga is a top target for Real Madrid heading into the summer transfer window. But the reigning La Liga champions are not ready to pay €40 million to sign the emerging Spanish midfielder from Celta Vigo.

Gabri Veiga has seen his stock skyrocket since breaking into the Celta Vigo first-team squad. He had to bide his time for a couple of seasons, representing the reserve team. But the 20-year-old has risen in stature this season, establishing himself as a pivotal figure for the Galician outfit.

The emerging Spanish midfielder has made his mark by scoring several crucial goals. And a tally of nine goals and three assists in 25 appearances is a solid return for a breakthrough season. Meanwhile, Veiga’s progress has captured the attention of several high-profile clubs, including Real Madrid.

Real Madrid will likely dip into the market for a midfield reinforcement in the summer transfer window. And Jude Bellingham is the priority target for Los Blancos. But the reigning La Liga champions face stiff competition from several Premier League bigwigs for the Englishman. So they will keep their options open.

Gabri Veiga has thus emerged as a viable target for Real Madrid. And the player’s output makes him a potential successor to Luka Modric. The Merengues are instead looking to pay a base fee of €25 million while proposing add-ons worth €15 million. Such an offer will bring the value of the total package to the demanded €40 million. But it is unclear if Celta Vigo will be open to accepting such a bid to part ways with Veiga.
