FC Porto are ready to cash in on goalkeeper Diogo Costa amid interest from Chelsea, Manchester United, and Tottenham Hotspur.

According to a report by 90min, FC Porto could cash in on their undisputed number one Diogo Costa in the summer. They are in a financial crisis and his departure for a decent fee could solve their troubles. And, Chelsea, Manchester United, and Tottenham Hotspur are keen on having him in their ranks.

Costa has been a part of FC Porto since his childhood days. The 23-year-old shot-stopper has gone through the ranks at the club and is currently one of their most important players. He has gone from strength to strength in the past few seasons.

The FC Porto keeper started all games for Portugal at the FIFA World Cup 2022. Costa has been performing on a consistent basis for club and country. And, his performances have attracted the attention of some of the biggest clubs in world football.

As far as the ongoing season is concerned, he has 16 clean sheets in 33 outings. The 23-year-old is Porto’s most valued asset, but they might look to sell him given their financial concerns. The Portuguese club are in desperate need to raise cash, and the best way to do so is by selling big players.

Costa signed a new contract at the club in the winter of 2022. His new contract runs until 2027 and has a release clause of around £65 million. While they wanted to wait until someone triggered the release clause but because of the financial struggles they might sell him for a lesser fee.

Meanwhile, Manchester United, Chelsea and Tottenham are all aware of the situation at FC Porto. And, they are all set to push for the Portugal international in the summer. United are currently working on a new contract for David de Gea but they are still looking to add another keeper to their ranks.

Erik ten Hag wants to increase the competition for the goalkeeping positions. And the Manchester United boss believes Costa’s arrival will act as a long-term solution for the club.

Meanwhile, Chelsea who have two world-class keepers in Kepa Arrizabalaga and Edouard Mendy are also keen on the 23-year-old. Both their keepers have not been consistent enough of late and one of them might be shown the exit door to make room for Costa’s arrival.

Tottenham Hotspur are also interested in the Portuguese international’s services. They are looking for a Hugo Lloris replacement. The Spurs shot-stopper has been on the decline of late and injuries haven’t helped his cause either.

The 36-year-old recently announced his international retirement. And, with his performances not up to the mark, he might even move away from Spurs in the summer. As a result, the club are on the look for a new shot-stopper and have identified Costa as a great fit for the club.

With a lot of clubs keen on having his services, it will be interesting to see who ends up winning the race for the FC Porto goalkeeper. It also remains to be seen who will pay around £65 million to sign the youngster.
