Atletico Madrid and three other La Liga giants are reportedly keen on signing 22-year-old Barcelona defender Sergino Dest this summer.

According to a report by Spanish outlet SPORT, Sergino Dest is the subject of interest from Atletico Madrid. Other La Liga giants like Sevilla, Valencia, and Villarreal are also interested in the 22-year-old Barcelona defender. And he is currently on loan at AC Milan.

Sergino Dest has failed to progress as well as he would have envisioned when he joined Barcelona from Ajax. The USMNT international was one of the most promising young right-backs in the world when he arrived at Camp Nou. But he failed to convince Xavi Hernandez following the current manager’s appointment as the Barcelona boss.

The 22-year-old fell below Dani Alves in the pecking order last season before Barcelona loaned him to AC Milan. But Dest has struggled to make his mark at San Siro, managing only 635 minutes of game time thus far. And he will unlikely join AC Milan permanently. But the Barcelona defender has emerged on the radars of four La Liga giants, including Atletico Madrid.

At Atletico Madrid, Diego Simeone has struggled to fill the void left by Kieran Trippier’s departure last January. Nahuel Molina is the current first-choice right-back for Atletico Madrid. But he has not stamped his authority or performed consistently thus far for Los Rojiblancos.

So it behoves Atletico Madrid to delve into the market for a right-back in the summer transfer window. And Sergino Dest has emerged as a viable target for the Spanish heavyweights. But the Colchoneros are in a four-way battle for the Barcelona defender, with three other La Liga giants keen.

Sevilla, Valencia, and Villarreal are also interested in signing the 22-year-old from Barcelona. In addition, Dest has reportedly popped up on the radar of Serie A heavyweights Juventus. So he will have several suitors vying for his signature in the summer transfer window.
