Daniel Levy failed to meet the demands of Antonio Conte who wanted to sign two players from his former club, and that led to his recent outburst.

According to a report by Football Insider, Antonio Conte requested Daniel Levy to sign two Inter Milan players, but his request was denied. And, it was one of the major reasons behind Antonio Conte’s outburst after the draw against Southampton.

Conte wanted to sign Romelu Lukaku and Stefan de Vrij from Inter Milan. But, his request went unheard at the London club, and it led to his explosive press conference.

Spurs were leading by two goals against Southampton in their last fixture before the international break. But, they could not manage to get the job done. They ended up drawing 3-3 against the Saints. The result did not go down well with the manager, who blasted his players in the press conference.

Conte did stop not at the players, as he took a dig at the club and the management. But, as per the reports, it was not because of the result that he went on and spoke against his club. Rather, it was because his request to sign his top two transfer targets was denied.

The Italian manager was keen on signing Lukaku and de Vrij. The Belgium international is currently on loan at Inter from Chelsea. He is likely to return to his parent club in the summer. But, given his performances of late, the 29-year-old is all set to part ways with the Blues. Conte had identified this opportunity and wanted him at Tottenham.

Meanwhile, de Vrij’s current contract with Inter Milan ends in a few months’ time. While he has been offered a one-year contract extension, the Dutch international has not yet accepted it. The 31-year-old centre-back is all set to be a free agent and could have been a great addition to Conte’s squad. But, Levy is not interested in signing the duo.

Spurs are not interested in signing any of the two because of their age. The club wants to add young talented players to their ranks – players that could grow at the club and help their cause over the years. On the other hand, their manager was keen on signing proven talents who could help him convert the London club into a title-winning team.

Conte’s future at the club was uncertain ever since they lost against AC Milan in the UEFA Champions League Round of 16. And, post his explosive media interactions things have gotten out of control. The Italian manager is likely to be sacked in the coming days.
