Chelsea can sign Joao Felix for £80 million

Chelsea signed Joao Felix on loan from Atletico Madrid in January and can complete a permanent move for £80 million.

Joao Felix has managed to impress manager Graham Potter with his performances. And a report from The Athletic claims that the Blues could look to try to sign him permanently at the end of the season.

Apparently, Chelsea will have to pay a fee of around £80 million in order to sign the Portuguese international permanently. When the Blues signed the 23-year-old on loan, there was no option to buy or obligation clause included in the deal.

Although the attacker has scored just once in the Premier League for Chelsea so far, his overall performance has been quite impressive. And there is no doubt that he has the potential to develop into a top-class Premier League attacker.

Felix has had a difficult time at Atletico Madrid since his big-money move from Benfica. And leaving the Spanish club permanently would be ideal for him. The Portuguese international needed a fresh start, and the loan move to Chelsea could not have come at a better time for him. He managed to impress at the 2022 FIFA World Cup with his country as well.

Regular football at Stamford Bridge could help him recapture his form and confidence. Felix is only 23 and has plenty of time to fulfil his world-class potential. The Portuguese international was regarded as one of the best attacking talents of his generation when he broke through at Benfica. It remains to be seen whether Chelsea can help him reach that level in the coming seasons.

The Blues are in need of attacking reinforcements. So it is no surprise that they are looking to bring in Felix permanently. Chelsea will be hoping to challenge for the Premier League title next season. And the 23-year-old could be an important player next season.

Meanwhile, Atletico Madrid will be hoping to invest the proceeds from the sale into their playing squad. The Spanish giants need to improve their squad in order to challenge for major trophies once again. And selling an unhappy player for £80 million could be a lucrative opportunity for them.

Felix has reportedly fallen out with manager Diego Simeone and he has previously indicated that the style of play at the Spanish club does not suit him.
