Chelsea are reportedly pushing to sign 23-year-old Portuguese forward Joao Felix on a permanent basis ahead of next season.

According to 90min, Chelsea are trying to strike a deal with Atletico Madrid to permanently sign Joao Felix in the summer. The 23-year-old joined the Blues in January on a loan deal and has been impressive in the few fixtures that he has featured in.

The west Londoners have spent a fortune on new signings ever since the arrival of Todd Boehly and his consortium. And, as per the reports, they have already prepared a list of big stars that they will go after ahead of next season.

Felix is a part of their transfer targets for the summer. And, they have started talks with his La Liga club Atletico Madrid to bring him to Stamford Bridge on a permanent transfer. They recently acquired the 23-year-old on an expensive six-month loan deal. The Blues will be paying up to £16 million in both loan fees and wages for his services. His deal does not include any buy option.

However, his impressive performances since arriving have forced the Blues to think about signing him permanently. But, things won’t be easy given the fact that he recently signed a contract extension with Atletico Madrid. While he is likely to be available, his price tag will be close to £100 million.

The Portuguese forward has featured in 23 matches and has nine goal contributions so far this season. Felix got off to a nightmare start with the Blues after being sent off on his Premier League debut against Fulham. However, the 23-year-old has returned after serving his suspension and has also scored his first goal in the Blue jersey.

Joao Felix’s future will depend on whether Diego Simeone continues as the Atletico Madrid manager. As per recent reports, the Argentine is likely to continue, which might allow Felix to leave. But, that will only happen if the right price is paid for the 23-year-old.

Felix has been very impressive in the little game time he has had so far. He has already showcased what he will bring to the table. And he seems to be a perfect fit for Graham Potter’s system. Potter is interested in keeping him at the club and Chelsea are pushing for his signatures. But, it will be interesting to see if they can convince La Liga giants Atletico Madrid to sell the talented forward.
