La Liga heavyweights Barcelona are reportedly tracking the progress of 18-year-old Turkish wonderkid Arda Guler.

According to a report by Jose Espina of AS, Arda Guler is the subject of interest from Barcelona. The Catalan giants are closely monitoring the progress of the 18-year-old Turkish wonderkid. But the Blaugrana will face stiff competition from Atletico Madrid in the race to sign him from Fenerbahce.

Arda Guler is one of the most promising young prospects in the world, going from strength to strength in recent years in his homeland. The teenage wonderkid started his youth career at Genclerbirligi SK, spending half a decade there. But his stock has risen exponentially since joining Fenerbahce in February 2019.

The 18-year-old has come leaps and bounds in a short time and made his first-team debut as a 16-year-old last season. And the Turkish wonderkid has become a regular this term, making 20 appearances while chipping in with three goals and two assists. Meanwhile, Guler’s progress has captured the attention of Barcelona.

The Catalan giants have signed several attackers and midfielders in the last two summer transfer windows. And they will likely look to sign at least one attacking midfielder and a winger this year. But amid the never-ending financial woes, Barcelona must get creative in the market.

So targeting versatile players who can reprise multiple roles might be a solution to Barcelona’s issues. Guler has thus popped up on Barcelona’s radar over a possible move in the summer transfer window. In fact, the Catalan giants have been keeping tabs on the 18-year-old Turkish wonderkid for several months.

The Emre Demir project might not have been fruitful for Barcelona. But that has not deterred the Blaugrana from continuing to scour the market for prodigious prospects in the country. However, Barcelona will not be the only high-profile club trying to sign Guler in the near future.

The 18-year-old Turkish wonderkid is also a target for Atletico Madrid. In addition, clubs like Liverpool, Tottenham Hotspur, and Paris Saint-Germain have also shown interest in Guler. So a big move might be on the cards for the young Turk.
