Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur are interested in signing 25-year-old forward Marcus Thuram ahead of next season.
According to a report by Calciomercato, Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur are keen on landing Marcus Thuram in the summer. The two Premier League clubs have been keeping an eye on the 25-year-old for a while now and are all set to push for him in the upcoming transfer window. And they have already contacted his entourage.
Thuram came up the ranks at FC Sochaux and became an important player at the club before he joined Guingamp. Then in 2019, he joined Borussia Monchengladbach. The French international has been a part of the Bundesliga club for almost four years now and has featured in 127 matches for the German club.
The 25-year-old has 42 goals and 26 assists to his name for Gladbach. But, he has decided to part ways with the Bundesliga club ahead of next season. Thuram’s contract at the club ends in the summer, and he is not willing to sign a new contract.
The French forward has already informed the club about his intentions. Gladbach have accepted his decision, and the sporting director of Borussia Monchengladbach has already made a public statement about him leaving.
The sporting director said, “We have decided to let go of Marcus Thuram. There are even bigger clubs where Marcus could go, we have to accept it.”
The 25-year-old World Cup finalist has had a decent campaign so far. He has featured in 25 matches and has 18 goal contributions to his name. Thuram has a lot of years left in him and can surely be a great asset for any club that he joins.
While there is a lot of interest from across the globe, Premier League clubs Manchester United and Tottenham are keen on signing the Frenchman. And the two bigwigs have been in contact with his entourage.
Erik ten Hag has done a great job at Manchester United since joining them. But, he believes reinforcement is needed in a few positions. His major concern is signing a new striker. And, the Dutch boss is keen on having the 25-year-old at his disposal.
Meanwhile, Tottenham are also looking for a new attacker. While they have a fully-stacked attack, the future of Harry Kane, a target for Manchester United, is uncertain, and Lucas Moura is set to leave the club. As a result, it does make sense for them to push for Thuram. The 25-year-old could prove to be a great asset for the club.
However, it won’t be easy for either of Manchester United and Tottenham to sign him. That is because there is a lot of interest in the soon-to-be free agent. And it will be interesting to where the 25-year-old ends up.
