Leeds United will ask for £30 million or more from Tottenham and other suitors for goalkeeper Illan Meslier.

According to Football Insider, Leeds United have slapped a £30 million+ price tag on Illan Meslier. Several Premier League sides are keeping tabs on the French shot-stopper. A transfer in the summer window could become a possibility.

Illan Meslier has been one of Leeds United’s most consistent players during their brief period in the Premier League. The stopper signed for £5 million from Lorient and has produced some wonderful moments in the White shirt.

Leeds United are in danger of relegation this season. And if that happens, the 22-year-old will depart for a bigger club. Meslier has been constantly linked with a move to a top-six side, with Tottenham one of the prime contenders for his signature.

Antonio Conte has signaled the intent to replace Hugo Lloris after many error-prone displays that have cost Tottenham points at different stages of the season. It has been the difference between them fighting for the title and now chasing a top-four place.

Tottenham experienced their best-ever start to a Premier League season, but the veteran Frenchman has proved a weak link in their side. Spurs are pondering several options to replace Lloris for the long term, but Meslier’s name has stuck out.

With his technical abilities and goalkeeper skills, Meslier may suit Tottenham’s profile. Leeds United have slapped a £30 million-plus price tag on the 22-year-old target, with the Frenchman having a contract until 2026 at Elland Road.

The range resembles what Arsenal paid for Aaron Ramsdale a few summers ago. Spurs could open negotiations with Leeds with that price point in mind, and they could push on if they qualify for the Champions League.

The premier European competition may prove decisive in attracting top talents to north London. It could become decisive even in Meslier’s case, considering Manchester United are also keen on the Leeds star. The Red Devils continue searching for a long-term replacement for David de Gea, as his contract situation remains uncertain.

Meslier may want to continue in the Premier League after settling in England. He has sometimes proven decisive for Leeds over the years, but it may be time to depart the club for a bigger challenge. Whether Tottenham agrees to pay up for the 22-year-old target remains the question, but they will look to invest in the position.
