Argentine sensation Julian Alvarez is all set to seal a contract extension at Manchester City amid interest from Barcelona.
According to Fichajes, Manchester City are all set to seal a new deal with their Argentine forward Julian Alvarez. The Citizens are keen on penning down a new deal amid interest from across Europe. Barcelona are one of the clubs who have their eyes on the Argentina international.
The 23-year-old has been in sensational form in the ongoing season. He has done a great job for both club and country. Alvarez was in red-hot form in the FIFA World Cup 2022. He played a major part in his nation winning the ultimate prize a few months back in Qatar.
His performances have not gone unnoticed, and a lot of clubs are interested in signing the Manchester City forward ahead of next season. And one of his prospective suitors are Barcelona. Meanwhile, Pep Guardiola’s team sealed a deal for Argentina forward back in the winter of 2022.
But, they decided to let him stay at River Plate on loan until the end of the season. Alvarez moved to Manchester ahead of the ongoing season and he has had a significant impact since joining them. Erling Haaland’s terrific form in front of goal has not allowed the 23-year-old to have much game time. But, in the limited time that he has been on the pitch, he has done wonders.
The former River Plate forward has featured in 31 matches but has been on the field for just over 1500 minutes. He has managed to find the back of the net on 10 occasions and has three assists to his name. The 23-year-old averages a goal every 155th minute.
His terrific performances had attracted a lot of interest. But Manchester City are keen on keeping the Argentine star in their ranks. As a result, they are all set to offer him an improved contract extension offer. They had tried to pen a new deal in the recent past but could not succeed. However, this time, they are confident of getting it done.
