Manchester City are reportedly not interested in selling Julian Alvarez amid interest from Barcelona and Real Madrid.

According to 90min, Manchester City have no intention of selling Julian Alvarez amid interest from clubs across Europe, including Barcelona and Real Madrid. The 23-year-old is an exceptional talent. But according to the reports he is unhappy at the club because of the limited game time.

Despite his impressive performances, the Argentine forward has had limited opportunities. Alvarez joined Manchester United ahead of the ongoing season. City completed a deal for the forward back in the winter of 2022 but decide to keep him on loan at River Plate until the end of the previous season.

Alvarez was expected to play a big part in Pep Guardiola’s team. But, he has been used as a backup to Erling Haaland who has been smashing goals for fun. The 23-year-old had an impressive FIFA World Cup with Argentina. He played an important part in helping the South American national win the global event.

Despite his heroics in Qatar, nothing much has changed at the club level. The 23-year-old has featured in 19 Premier League matches. But, he has only started six of those fixtures. He has scored five goals in 705 minutes in the English top flight. Alvarez averages a goal every 141 minutes which is a decent return.

Alvarez wants more game time and might look for a move away from the club in the summer. As a result, a lot of clubs, including Barcelona and Real Madrid, and keeping an eye on the talented youngster.

However, Manchester City have no intention of selling the 23-year-old. They are aware of the situation surrounding the Argentine forward, who has a contract at the club until 2027. And, they are willing to offer him a new contract with increased wages to keep him at the club.

Meanwhile, there is interest from Spanish giants Barcelona and Real Madrid for the 23-year-old. Xavi is looking to add more firepower to his attack and would love to have Alvarez in his ranks. The Argentine forward will suit Xavi’s system and will surely bolster their squad.

On the other hand, Los Blancos are looking for a long-term replacement for Karim Benzema who is already 35. The former River Plate forward could be a great fit for Real Madrid. Ancelotti would love to have a new number nine who can drop deep, run at defenders and link up with wingers. However, it won’t be an easy task, as Manchester City are unwilling to sell him.
