Tottenham could switch their attention to Roger Ibanez, with the Roma defender’s stock rising with his performances this season.

According to Forza Roma, Tottenham have a firm interest in Roma defender Roger Ibanez. The Italian giants might cash in if they receive a sizeable bid for the 24-year-old Brazilian defender in the summer. His recent rise in stock has attracted plenty of interest from top clubs.

Roger Ibanez’s stock at Roma rises with each passing week. The 24-year-old Brazilian defender has become a key part of Jose Mourinho’s system at the Italian capital as he continues to produce consistent performances in Serie A.

The Portuguese manager completely trusts the 24-year-old Brazilian defender and would want him to remain at the centre of their defence for the long-term future. However, Ibanez’s future at Roma remains under threat as the lure of Premier League clubs could come knocking on their door very soon.

Newcastle United have kept tabs since last summer and could revive their interest after the season. Meanwhile, Tottenham are keen on the 24-year-old Brazilian defender as the club seeks some big defensive reinforcements next summer.

Any transfer will depend on how much Roma might demand for the 24-year-old Brazilian defender. Ibanez reportedly has a release clause worth €80 million, but the Serie A giants know those figures are unattainable. They might remain open to selling him for €45-50 million.

The report also insists Ibanez’s recent call-up to the Brazilian squad could solidify their demand for the defender. As Tottenham are keen, they might see the 24-year-old Brazilian defender as a long-term option in their backline.

Tottenham’s defence has plenty of uncertainties, and the club is seeking players who could form part of the backline for years to come. Spurs may not sign Clement Lenglet, while the futures of Davinson Sanchez and Japhet Tanganga are in significant doubt.

Spurs remain linked with several names, including Mohammed Salisu and Max Kilman, and the club may return to the Italian market for options. They have succeeded with the signing of Cristian Romero in the past and may look to repeat the trick with Ibanez.

For now, there’s interest, but much will depend on the price point. Spurs have shown readiness to pay vast sums, but that will matter if they are serious about the reported player.
