Premier League clubs Newcastle United and Arsenal are keen on signing Napoli star Hirving Lozano ahead of next season.

According to a report by Il Mattino, Newcastle United and Arsenal have their eyes set on Hirving Lozano. Both the Premier League clubs are desperate to add more firepower to their ranks ahead of next season. And, they have identified the 27-year-old forward as a potential target.

Lozano has been a part of the Naples-based club since joining them in the summer of 2019. The Mexico international came through the ranks at Pachuca before making a move to the Dutch side PSV Eindhoven. His two-year spell at PSV was impressive and Napoli managed to strike a deal for his services.

The 27-year-old has featured in 140 matches for the club and has 47 goal contributions. In the ongoing season, he has played in 30 matches for the Serie A side. He is one of the reasons they sit at the top of the league with a 15-point lead over the second-placed team.

However, his contract with the club ends in the summer of 2024. The club will try to pen a new deal with the Mexican star but if they fail to do so, we might see him leave the club in the upcoming summer. With just over 14 months left in his contract, if they fail to secure a new contract, Napoli will look to sell him to the highest bidder.

Meanwhile, Premier League clubs are keeping a close eye on his situation. Newcastle United and Arsenal are two of the club who have shown interest in signing the 27-year-old. Both the clubs have done well in the ongoing season but are desperate to improve further and they believe Lozano’s arrival could help them.

Arsenal are leading the league at this point in time. They are all set to return to the UEFA Champions League after seven years. Mikel Arteta will be keen to do his best in the European competition and feels the need to add another forward to his ranks. The Spanish manager is an admirer of the Mexico international and wants him at the Emirates Stadium ahead of next season.

However, it won’t be an easy task for the Gunners to sign the 27-year-old. They will face competition from the richest club in world football. Newcastle United are fighting for a Champions League spot in the ongoing season. And, they are looking to build a team that can challenge for major silverware from next season onwards.

The Magpies will look to sign quite a few star players ahead of next season. Eddie Howe believes that Lozano could be a great addition to his ranks. The 27-year-old is a versatile player who can play on either of the flanks and can even start as a striker. His arrival will surely bolster their squad. But with Arsenal amongst the teams who want to sign him, it will be an interesting transfer tussle.
