Aston Villa and Liverpool are reportedly ready to shell out €25 million to sign Alberto Moleiro, a target for Barcelona, this summer.

According to a report by Spanish outlet Mundo Deportivo, Aston Villa and Liverpool are ready to launch the offensive for Alberto Moleiro in the summer transfer window. The two Premier League clubs are willing to offer €25 million for the 19-year-old Las Palmas prodigy. And he is also a target for Catalan giants Barcelona.

Alberto Moleiro is one of the most promising young midfielders in his homeland. He started his youth career at Sobradillo before joining UD Las Palmas in July 2018. Since then, the Spanish teenage sensation has gone from strength to strength. And he is already a regular for the Canary Islands club.

The 19-year-old is enjoying a superb 2022/23 season, amassing eight assists in 29 appearances thus far. Moleiro’s progress has not gone unnoticed either, with several high-profile clubs setting their sights on him. And the youngster is a target for Barcelona, Liverpool, and Aston Villa.

Moleiro has been on Barcelona’s radar since his days at the Las Palmas academy. And the Catalan giants have a healthy working relationship with Pio Pio, signing star midfielder Pedri from them. In addition, Elias Romero recently emerged on Barcelona’s radar. As for Moleiro, the 19-year-old can be a long-term creative solution for Barcelona.

But Barcelona will have an uphill task pursuing the Spanish wonderkid, with Aston Villa and Liverpool ready to offer €25 million to secure his services. Both Premier League clubs need more creativity from midfield. And it is hardly surprising that they are scouring the market for a long-term option like Moleiro.

Aston Villa joined the race to sign the Las Palmas whizkid in January. And amid uncertainties surrounding Philippe Coutinho’s future, Moleiro is a viable target. But while the 19-year-old can be a solid replacement for the former Barcelona and Liverpool playmaker, the Reds are also keen.

Liverpool might be an attractive destination, considering the impact of Jurgen Klopp on young prospects. Meanwhile, it will be interesting to see how Barcelona will respond to the possibility of Aston Villa and Liverpool paying €25 million for Moleiro. The Catalan outfit’s financial woes might be a roadblock in signing the Las Palmas prodigy.
