Arsenal, Manchester United register interest in Alexis Mac Allister

Arsenal and Manchester United have registered an interest in signing Alexis Mac Allister, with Liverpool already in the chase.

According to Football Insider, Arsenal and Manchester United have joined the chase for Alexis Mac Allister. The Brighton star will be in high demand when the summer window comes along, with other teams like Chelsea, Manchester City, and Liverpool among those interested.

Alexis Mac Allister always had the quality to succeed in the Premier League, and he has come to the party this season. After a brilliant start to the season that saw Brighton award him a new contract, the 24-year-old midfielder then went on to win the World Cup with Argentina being a regular starter.

Those displays in Qatar only accelerated interest from top-class suitors, with Chelsea reportedly seeing an offer rebuffed by Brighton in January. The Seagulls made it clear they were uninterested in entertaining any offers. But that stance could change in the summer.

Mac Allister’s current deal with Brighton expires in 2025, meaning the club could make serious considerations of offers they could receive in the summer. Some of the biggest Premier League sides are keen, including Liverpool, who are serious about the 24-year-old.

Jurgen Klopp remains keen to revamp his midfield options for next season. But Liverpool may have to overcome their problems and even qualify for the Champions League next season. Players like Mac Allister would want to play European football at the highest level, something the Reds may or may not offer.

Meanwhile, the 24-year-old Liverpool target is also chased by Arsenal, among other sides. Mikel Arteta wants a new midfielder to play alongside the main holding midfielder in his system. This new star would essentially become the competition for Granit Xhaka.

Arsenal were also keen on Mac Allister’s Brighton teammate Moises Caicedo, who could become even more difficult to sign after he signed a new long-term deal. Despite entering the final two years of his deal in the summer, the Argentine will cost a significant sum.

Arsenal could pay what is necessary to acquire the player if their interest is serious. However, they have competition from Manchester United, as Erik ten Hag remains keen to add an exciting new midfielder. The Red Devils could move on Scott McTominay, which could open up space in the squad.

Mac Allister will not come to any club and become a bench option. Ten Hag may view him as the ideal midfield partner for Casemiro next season and will hope the Argentine will have a similar impact as the Brazilian has had this season.

Mac Allister could bring many top clubs to the same table as a transfer battle could ensue for the 24-year-old midfielder. Arsenal and Manchester United are on the ascendency and could become good options for the Argentine, but one cannot understate the pull Liverpool have in pursuit of any player.
