Tottenham Hotspur were linked with a move for the Udinese winger Gerard Deulofeu during the January transfer window.

A report from Mondo Udinese claims that Gerard Deulofeu could be a target for Tottenham Hotspur at the end of the season as well. Tottenham nearly signed the player in January, but an injury led to the collapse of the move.

Deulofeu has done reasonably well for the Italian club this season, scoring three goals and picking up seven assists across all competitions. A move to Tottenham could be an exciting option for the player. He will be hoping to play at a higher level. And Tottenham are certainly a step up from Udinese.

Furthermore, the north London club need to add more depth and quality to their attack and the 28-year-old Spaniard would be a superb acquisition. The former Everton and Watford winger is used to English football and he will be able to make an immediate impact at Tottenham next season.

The player will have just 12 months left on his contract at the end of the season. So he could be signed for a reasonable price. Recent reports claimed that Tottenham wanted to sign the Spanish winger in January. And they have returned to the charge ahead of the summer transfer window.

Tottenham are currently pushing for a place in the Champions League next season. And if they manage to finish in the top four, they should look to bring in more depth to the side during the summer transfer window. Deulofeu would be a handy option for Antonio Conte next season.

Furthermore, the Spaniard can play anywhere across the front three. And his versatility will be an added bonus for Tottenham. With players like Richarlison and Son Heung-min struggling for form, Tottenham had to bring Arnaut Danjuma on loan from Villarreal in January. The Dutchman is set to return to his parent club at the end of the season. And Deulofeu could be the ideal alternative.

Udinese will probably be reluctant to sell a key player at the end of the season. But the 28-year-old Spanish winger is nearing the end of his contract. And this summer could be the Italian club’s final opportunity to recoup a handsome fee for him. But Tottenham also have other attackers on their radar, including Marco Asensio.
