Liverpool are interested in signing 24-year-old England international Mason Mount ahead of next season.
According to a report by TalkSport, Liverpool are keen on signing Mason Mount from Chelsea. The Merseyside club are confident about stealing the England international from their rivals. They are in desperate need of reinforcements and Mount would surely help their cause.
The 24-year-old English international’s current contract with the Blues ends in the summer of 2024. And, as of now, the contract extension talks have reached a standstill. Chelsea are unable to make progress in renewing Mount’s contract.
The Chelsea graduate is not willing to settle for the wages that the London-based club are offering. He is seeking wage parity with Chelsea’s top earners. But, the club are not willing to offer him that big a deal.
With his deal expiring in just over a year, selling him ahead of next season might be Chelsea’s only option. However, they wouldn’t want to see their youth product move to a rival club.
The 24-year-old has been a part of the Blues since his childhood days. He has gone out on multiple loan moves to gain experience and has gone up the ranks to become an important part of the team. Mount played an integral part in helping Chelsea win the UEFA Champions League a few years back.
During his time with the club, he has featured in over 190 matches and has 70 goal contributions to his name. The ongoing season hasn’t been that great for the England international and a lot of it is because of the team struggling as a whole.

Meanwhile, Liverpool are interested in securing his services. The Merseyside club have been struggling in the ongoing season. And, a lot of it is because of an inconsistent midfield. Jurgen Klopp is desperate for reinforcement in the centre of the park.
The German manager is looking for a complete overhaul of the midfield. The arrival of the 24-year-old will give them a lot of firepower in the middle, and he will add to their creative play. He is a versatile player and can also be used in different positions.
Mount will surely be a great addition to the Liverpool outfit. Klopp is a fan of the Chelsea player and would love to sign him. With Mount having a complicated contract situation, the Reds are confident of striking a deal for the player.
However, it won’t be easy because Chelsea will try their best to avoid selling an academy graduate to a rival. And, the Merseyside club will also face competition from elsewhere. As a result, it will be interesting to see how things pan out from here.
