Premier League giants Manchester United are keen on signing 24-year-old Chelsea attacking midfielder Mason Mount.

Dean Jones has told GiveMeSport that Manchester United are interested in acquiring the services of Mason Mount. The 24-year-old’s contract situation at the Blues is complicated. And a lot of clubs have their eyes on a player who is currently earning only £80,000 per week.

Mount, who has been a part of Chelsea since his childhood, might be on his way out in the summer. His contract with the Blues ends in the summer of 2024. And with just 15 months left, a lot of clubs have shown interest in signing him ahead of next season.

The west London club are still hopeful of renewal. But the contract talks have been put on hold until the summer amid Mount’s latest demands. If they fail to convince him to pen down an extension in the summer, Chelsea might look to sell him rather than lose out on him for free in 12 months.

The 24-year-old was promoted to the first team in the summer of 2019 after two successful loan spells. He has featured in over 190 matches for the Blues and has 70 goal contributions to his name. The England international played an integral part in Chelsea’s Champions League triumph a few years back.

In the ongoing season, he has featured in 31 matches and has nine goal contributions for the team in blue. It has not been that great a season for the £80,000-a-week Chelsea star. However, a lot of clubs are still interested in him given the quality of the player.

Manchester United are one of the clubs who are keen on Mount. People at the club admire the 24-year-old and would love to have him at Old Trafford.

Dean Jones said: “He’s definitely appreciated by people within United, so it is interesting. I think they’ve still got uncertainty about whether he’s truly going to become available, though, at the end of the season. Chelsea are in a state of flux, at the moment.”

Manchester United are interested in his services but are still not sure about his availability. However, they will push for him in the summer if he becomes available. Erik ten Hag’s men will look to further strengthen themselves ahead of next season. They will look to sign a few midfielders in the summer.

With Mount’s contract situation uncertain at Chelsea, they have their eyes on him. Adding a creative midfielder who is versatile and can play at different positions will give ten Hag a lot of options. However, it will be interesting to see if the Blues let the 24-year-old leave or manage to strike a new deal with him.
