Arsenal and Barcelona are keen on Shakhtar Donetsk winger Manor Solomon, who has been shining for Fulham since returning from injury.

According to Fichajes, Arsenal and Barcelona could battle for Manor Solomon in the summer. The in-form winger is having a brilliant season on loan with Premier League club Fulham, who may not have the option to sign him permanently.

Barcelona are in the market for peculiar signings, with their financial problems taking precedence. Few reports in the last few days have even indicated the Catalan giants may be unable to make any purchases in the summer transfer window, which tends to showcase their issues’ seriousness.

Hence, the Blaugrana could enter a very specific market for players, either available on a free transfer or on a cut-price deal. Hence long-term, expensive targets like Bernardo Silva or Khvicha Kvaratskhelia may become out of reach for Barcelona in the next window.

They remain linked with players like Wilfried Zaha and Sofyan Amrabat to improve their team. Manor Solomon is the latest to feature on their shortlist, and Barcelona could take advantage of his contractual situation. The Catalan giants could improve their situation with a few high-profile sales of players like Ansu Fati.

The Israel international’s situation with Shakhtar Donetsk became complicated due to the ongoing Russia-Ukraine conflict. He was allowed to join Premier League club Fulham on loan, and the deal does not include a buy option, as per reports.

Considering he has missed a large chunk of the season after suffering a knee injury on the opening day of the season, Solomon has come back in style. The 23-year-old winger has scored in his last four games in all competitions, including three in the league.

His form suggests he has put those injury woes behind him as he continues to push for a starting berth. Incidentally, Marco Silva has not preferred to select him from the start, although that could change soon. If The 23-year-old continues with his form, Fulham might regret not including a buy option.

Solomon’s contract with Shakhtar ends in December 2023, meaning clubs will eye a cut-price deal for the player. Arsenal are the latest club to show an interest, as Mikel Arteta needs a winger in his squad.

Despite signing Leandro Trossard in January, Arteta feels there is a need for another wide attacker to bolster his squad. Bukayo Saka plays alone on the right side of the attack, with no viable option to cover him.

Reiss Nelson could leave in the summer, leaving a gap in the squad to fill. Meanwhile, the biggest challenge for Arteta in the summer would be to convince players to join and compete with Saka for a place. The England international has been immovable in recent seasons, and the trend might continue.

Solomon could become tempted by the prospect of remaining in England. But eventually, his decision will depend on where he gets to play more. Fulham could also become an option if he starts games under Silva between now and the end of the campaign.
