Newcastle United are ahead of the queue to sign 19-year-old midfield prodigy Alex Scott from Bristol City in the summer.

According to Football Insider, Newcastle United takes the lead in the chase for Alex Scott. The Bristol City star attracts plenty of interest from Premier League sides. The Magpies may become an exciting destination for the 19-year-old midfield prodigy.

Newcastle United are already planning on a significant summer window. Eddie Howe remains keen to bolster the squad with quality signings. The focus will undoubtedly revolve around high-value additions. Yet, the Magpies will continue to keep tabs on young players.

19-year-old midfield prodigy Alex Scott is firmly on their shortlist of exciting talents. In January, the Bistol City midfielder was a target for Premier League sides, but none of those teams were willing to pay the £25 million asking price.

Newcastle United may have hoped the pursuit would wait until the summer. They might have remained open to signing him if other clubs had accelerated their plan for the 19-year-old midfield prodigy. In the summer, Scott will have a choice of clubs.

Having made his way from the lower leagues of English football, Scott has made himself one of the key stars at Bristol City. Crystal Palace and West Ham United are keeping close tabs on the 19-year-old midfield prodigy.

Tottenham are also keeping tabs, with Antonio Conte keen to bolster the midfield areas with a versatile star like Scott. While the north Londoners represent a solid option and a meaningful upgrade to his career, the midfielder will choose by evaluating offers.

Newcastle are ready to rival Tottenham for the midfielder in the summer, with Howe likely to lodge a meaningful offer. Bristol City may not attempt to block a move as they might accept the fact of losing the 19-year-old midfield prodigy.

The Magpies currently lie fifth on the Premier League table and are sure to make it into Europe next season. Howe will certainly hope it’s Champions League football that they are playing, and he will remain content with Europa League action.

The Magpies recently lost the Carabao Cup Final to Manchester United, which may have shown their ambition to compete for honours in the future. Given their manager’s record in developing youngsters, they could become an exciting destination.
