Liverpool and Tottenham Hotspur are reportedly keen on signing 24-year-old German midfielder Anton Stach from Bundesliga club Mainz.

According to a report from 90min, Liverpool and Tottenham are keeping close tabs on 24-year-old Mainz midfielder Anton Stach ahead of a potential summer move. He is reportedly on the radar of Premier League clubs Newcastle United and West Ham United as well.

The midfielder has a contract with the Bundesliga club until the summer of 2024. And the Premier League clubs will feel that he could be available for a reasonable price at the end of the season.

Stach has been a key player for Mainz this season. And his ability to slot into multiple roles makes him an attractive prospect. The German midfielder can operate as a defensive midfielder as well as a central midfielder.

Liverpool desperately need a quality defensive midfielder, and the 24-year-old could prove to be a useful addition. They have been linked with Borussia Dortmund talisman Jude Bellingham as well.

Brazilian midfielder Fabinho has regressed massively, and Jurgen Klopp will have to replace him as an automatic starter. Stach has proven himself in the Bundesliga and has the quality to succeed in the Premier League as well. It remains to be seen whether Liverpool can fend off the competition from their Premier League rivals and secure his services.

On the other hand, Tottenham are lacking in depth in the central midfield unit. So Antonio Conte will have to bring in someone who will help him rotate the likes of Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg and Rodrigo Bentancur from time to time.

The 24-year-old German midfielder is likely to be tempted to move to the Premier League. And he will feel that a move to a club like Liverpool or Tottenham could help him cement his place in the national team as well. The Mainz midfielder was left out of Hansi Flick’s World Cup squad last year.
