Arsenal have reached an agreement in principle with Bukayo Saka to extend his stay at the Emirates over a new £10 million-a-year deal.

According to Sami Mokbel of Daily Mail, Bukayo Saka is close to signing a new £10 million-a-year deal with Arsenal. The winger will commit to a long-term deal with the Gunners as he feels the club are heading in the right direction under Mikel Arteta. He was recently a target for Manchester City.

Arsenal have remained relaxed about the contractual situations with their most talented players. Mikel Arteta has done wonders with the youngest squad in the league. The Gunners currently top the Premier League table ahead of Manchester City.

In recent years, they have completely transformed as a club under Arteta and managed to attract many young talents. The more pressing issue was extending some contracts at the club. Arsenal have already begun the process and remain halfway through.

They extended key defender Gabriel Magalhaes’s contract, while Gabriel Martinelli has also signed a new deal. The latter’s future alongside that of Bukayo Saka and William Saliba’s is something the club wanted to secure, and they are making the right strides.

There is still no news about Saliba despite holding extensive talks with the player’s entourage. However, Arsenal have now reached an agreement in principle on a new contract for Saka. The exciting winger will soon sign a new £10 million-a-year deal, expected to be valid until 2028.

He is yet to sign the contract, but it is still massive news for Arsenal. They have always remained confident of agreeing on an extension with the winger. The £10 million-a-year deal also reflects Saka’s status in the squad.

Saka could become one of the highest-paid players in the squad, possibly only behind Gabriel Jesus. Meanwhile, the news will come as a big blow to interested clubs, who had kept tabs on Saka’s situation. Chief among those are Manchester City, who were keen on the winger to join them.

Saka has had a sensational season in Arsenal colours, scoring nine goals and providing eight assists in 23 Premier League games. The Gunners currently sit on top of the charts with a two-point gap over Manchester City and a game in hand. They now travel to Leicester City in an attempt to extend their advantage at the top.
