Manchester City have been monitoring Federico Dimarco

Manchester City are interested in signing 25-year-old Inter Milan full-back Federico Dimarco in the summer.

According to TEAMtalk’s transfer insider, Graeme Bailey, Manchester City are keen on bringing 25-year-old left-back Federico Dimarco to the club ahead of next season.

Inter Milan’s financial situation will force them to sell a few of their stars in the summer. Milan need to raise around £50m-£55m ahead of next season to balance their books. And, they might be willing to let Dimarco leave. Pep Guardiola’s team is on the look for a left back and they have been scouting the 25-year-old.

Graeme Bailey while talking about players that Inter could sell, said:

“However, there are others including left-back Federico Dimarco – who has been watched by Manchester City in recent weeks – and also goalkeeper Andre Onana.”

Federico Dimarco has been a part of Inter Milan since his childhood days. He has come through the ranks at the Italian club. Initially, he was sent out on multiple loan spells before being sold to FC Sion in 2017. However, a year later Inter Milan bought him back and sent him out on loan.

A lot has changed in the last few years, Dimarco has managed to break into the first team and become a regular. The 25-year-old is exceptional out wide both in terms of defence and attack. He is great with the ball on his feet.

In the ongoing season, the Italian defender has featured in 30 matches and has 9 goal contributions. His performances have not gone unnoticed and with Inter Milan’s financial crisis, Manchester City have their eyes on Dimarco.

Pep Guardiola will look to add a new left-back ahead of next season. The departure of Oleksandr Zinchenko ahead of the season and Guardiola’s fallout with Joao Cancelo which led to his loan move in January haven’t helped City.

Cancelo’s loan love to Bayern Munich has an option that could see him join them on a permanent basis. Even if he returns in the summer, he is likely to be sold and as a result, they are looking for a new full-back. And, people at City believe the 25-year-old could be a great addition to their ranks.

Dimarco will directly slot into the left-back position at the Manchester-based club and will make life easier for Guardiola. However, it will be interesting it see if they can manage to land him at the club.
